Smoking wood

Smoke that tastes like a decision

Splits, chunks and face cords in seven hardwoods. One species per bag, cut by hand, seasoned dry and stored indoors — for offset smokers, kamados, kettles, bullet smokers and charcoal cookers.

12" Smoking Wood Splits

The everyday bag. Hand-cut 12" splits, filled with the single species you ask for, seasoned dry and stored indoors so it lights clean and burns steady.

  • Cut to 12" so it drops straight into an offset firebox, a barrel smoker or a kamado.
  • Filled with one species per bag — no mystery mixes — so you control the flavour.
  • Weighs 20–23 kg (44 lb), enough for several long cooks.

12" Wrist-Size Splits

Same 12" length, thicker pieces — roughly the size of your wrist. Fewer reloads and a longer, steadier burn on big cooks.

  • Chosen by people running long briskets and pork shoulders who do not want to feed the fire every 30 minutes.
  • Same species choice and same bag weight as the standard splits.

3"–4" Wood Chunks

The most popular bag we sell. Drop two or three chunks onto charcoal in a kettle, a bullet smoker or a gas grill smoke box and you have real wood flavour.

  • Sized around 3"–4" across — the right size for kettles, bullet smokers, kamados and charcoal cookers.
  • Matt will cut other sizes on request. Just ask when you order.

Smoking Wood by the Face Cord

Buying for a restaurant, a caterer, a competition season or a very serious backyard? Take it by the face cord in the species you want.

  • Sold in 12" splits, same seasoning and same species choice as the bags.
  • Call or text Matt for a face cord price — it depends on species and quantity.

Not sure which one you need?

Short version: chunks if your heat comes from charcoal and the wood is just for flavour. Splits if the wood is the fire. Face cords if you are cooking every weekend or running a kitchen.

Smoking wood questions

Good to know

Is the wood properly seasoned?
Yes. All of the wood for smokers, grills and pizza ovens is well seasoned and stored indoors through the winter and spring. Dry wood lights faster, burns cleaner and gives you thin blue smoke instead of a bitter white cloud.
How big are the bags?
Smoking wood bags weigh 20–23 kg (44 lb). Bagged firewood is 50–60 lb. Bags keep the mess out of your vehicle and make the wood easy to carry and stack.
Can I buy smoking wood by the face cord?
Yes. Face cords are available in cherry, apple, red oak, white oak, hickory and maple, sold in 12" splits. Call or text for a price.
Chunks or splits — which do I need?
Chunks for kettles, bullet smokers, kamados and charcoal cookers, where you are adding two or three pieces for flavour. Splits for offset smokers and anything where the wood is also your heat source. Pizza ovens take the short 5"–6" splits.
Can Matt cut a custom size?
Yes — he cuts other sizes on request. If your oven or smoker needs something specific, say so when you order.
